Now folks, let's get started on looking at the Details of HitmanPro.

* This is the screen that will appear when you first start-up "HitmanPro". We have annotated very specific details that are located on this screen. We will call this the: Main Program Interface (or, MPI). We shall reference this screen as the MPI throughout this Review/Guide.
Image

* We shall now examine all of the "Settings" that are contained within "HitmanPro". The "Settings Button" is located in the lower left corner of the MPI.
Image

Image

- In the screenshot above you can see that we have highlighted the fact that there are Six Settings Tabs.
-- The First Tab that we will examine is the "Settings Tab". We shall call these "General Program Settings", because they affect the overall (or, general) operation of "Hitman Pro".
Image

--- The First Seven Options listed in this Tab are:

-- "Automatically upload unknown suspicious files to the Scan Cloud"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. This Option will submit the "unknown suspicious file" to the Scan Cloud to be scanned by the Core Technologies that make up "HitmanPro". The "unknown suspicious file" may be a perfectly safe file to use, however it is currently not recognized by "HitmanPro" so it is therefore deemed "unknown suspicious". It also could be a very "bad file". You will be given a chance at the end of the System Scan to determine if you agree with HitmanPro that it is a very "bad file" or that it is truly a very "safe file".
-- "Compress unknown suspicious files before upload"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. This Option will compress the "unknown suspicious file" so that it is quicker to upload to the Scan Cloud.
-- "Use a secure connection (SSL) while uploading files to the Scan Cloud"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. This Option simply makes it more secure to upload the files, because in a sense the files are kind of like sensitive information to you.
-- "Create a restore point before removing files"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. This Option tells "HitmanPro" to create a Windows Restore Point before removing any files, in case, you may have to System Restore to the point before the file was removed.
-- "List files that fail the Authenticode certificate check as Suspicious"--We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. It is currently grayed out on our system, so that means that it is not supported by our OS. This is an OS-specific "Option".
-- "Scan for Malware Remnants"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. Sometimes things can be left behind by other programs that may have removed some Malware on your Computer System.
-- "Scan for Potential Unwanted Programs (PUPs)"--> This "Sub-Option Setting" can be set or not, depending upon your preference to have "HitmanPro" scan for PUPs, on your Computer System. These PUPs are things such as: toolbars and programs that are unintentionally installed along with downloaded programs, and the such. Under this "Sub-Option Setting" you can set the "Default Action" to either: "Ignore" the PUPs, or to "Delete" the PUPs. You must have this "Sub-Option" selected to be able to set the "Default Action". We did not select this "Sub-Option" on our Computer System.
--- "Scan for Tracking Cookies"--> We HIGHLY RECOMMEND selecting this Option, if not already selected. This "Option" tells "HitmanPro" to additionally scan for Tracking Cookies that may be located on your Computer System. These are things that you do not necessarily want to have lingering on your Computer System.

--- The "Exploit Mitigation" Option may not be available to you, depending upon what OS you are running. This Option is OS-specific. If it is grayed out, then that means that it is not available to you. It is more than likely that the Option is already covered by your specific OS. See the screenshot below.

--- On the right side of this Tab, about in the middle, is another "Option" that is in the form of a mouse-clickable blue link: "Reset settings". This will reset all setting back to Initial Installation Default. Do be careful with this, because this Action cannot be undone. See the screenshot below.

--- The Last Option we have in this Tab, is the "Display Language" Option. Mouse-clicking on this right down arrow will bring up a long list of Languages that you can select from. Whatever you have selected here will be the Language used in HitmanPro. See the screenshot below.
Image

-- The Second Tab that we will examine is the "Scan Settings Tab". This Tab is where you setup "HitmanPro" to run System Scans automatically on a scheduled time period, that you have selected.

Image

--- The First Option you have listed here is the actual place where you set "HitmanPro" to run on your selected schedule. The Option is called: "Run a scheduled scan on my computer (recommended)". Now you have Three Sub-Options under the Main Option.

-- "Scan Method"--> When you mouse-click on the right down arrow, it will bring up Two Different Scan Methods: "Quick scan (recommended)", and "Default scan". You can only select One Scan Method.

Image

--- "When"--> When you mouse-click on the right down arrow, it will bring up a list of Time Periods to select from. You may only select One Time Period. The Time Periods range from: "At startup" to "Sunday". If you select the: "At startup" or "Daily" Time Period, then the "Around Option" will be grayed out, because these Time Periods run much more frequently, than selecting a "Monday" through "Sunday" Time Period, which only runs once that day.

Image

--- "Around"--> When you mouse-click on the right down arrow, it will bring up a list of Times to select from. These range from: "0:00" to "23:00". NOTE: These are in the 24-hour clock format, which is common used by various military and government entities, and so on. You may only select one Time Option. This Option will only be available to you if you have selected a: "Monday" to "Sunday" Time Period.

Image

--- The Second and Third Options have to do with the behavior of "HitmanPro" when encountering specific System Situation. Please see the screenshot below, as it explains these Options, and gives our recommendation on whether you should enable or disable these Options.

--- The Fourth Option has to do with Windows Shell Integration, or in other words, do you want "HitmanPro" to show up in the Context Menus of files and folders. Please see the screenshot below, as it explains this Option, and gives our recommendation on whether you should enable or disable this Option.

Image

-- The Third Tab that we will examine is the "History Settings Tab". This Tab is where you will find the History of all the Actions that "HitmanPro" has taken, including Actions that you have performed. Under this Tab, you will see Two Sub-Tabs: "Quarantine" and "Logs". Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

Image

--- We shall examine the "Quarantine Sub-Tab" firstly. Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

Image

--- Now, we shall examine the "Logs Sub-Tab" lastly. Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

Image

-- The Fourth Tab that we will examine is the "License Settings Tab". This Tab is where you will find information about your License. Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

Image

-- The Fifth Tab that we will examine is the "Proxy Settings Tab". This Tab is where you will find information about the "Proxy Settings" that available in "HitmanPro". Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

Image

-- The Sixth and Final Tab that we will examine is the "Advanced Settings Tab". This Tab is where you will find information about Additional Settings that can be setup for "HitmanPro". Please see the screenshot below, as it further explains this Tab.

--- Let's take a look at the "Disk Access Modes" for a moment, as these might be a hair-bit unclear as to what these are. You have Two Options here: "Direct Disk Access (recommended)", and "Compatible Disk Access". These simply are methods by which "HitmanPro" accesses your hard drive on your Computer System. The First Method listed: "Direct Disk Access" simply means that "HitmanPro" can directly write/read to the hard drive, without having to use a software interface to write/read to the hard drive. It would be like you and me taking a pencil and writing to piece of notebook paper, and then reading from that notebook paper, and vice-versa. Whereas: "Compatible Disk Access" uses a software interface called: "Windows API {The Windows API, informally WinAPI, is Microsoft's core set of application programming interfaces (APIs) available in the Microsoft Windows operating systems. The name Windows API collectively refers to several different platform implementations that are often referred to by their own names (for example, Win32 API).--> Taken from this page: Linki widoczne tylko dla zalogowanych.}" to read/write to and from the hard drive. This would be like you and me using a word processor or text editor {the software interface}, and then printing our input to a printer. These are the differences between the Two Options.

Image

-- CONGRATULATIONS!! You have now completed setting up "HitmanPro" to your specifications!!

Image

-- Now, the "Next Step" will be to do a "System Scan". See the screenshot below.

Image

--- After mouse-clicking on the "Next Button", as shown in the screenshot above, you should see a Screen that looks something like the one in the screenshot below. The screenshot explains what you will be seeing on this screen. This is the beginning of the "System Scan" process.

Image

--- Here in the screenshot below, you will see another step in the "System Scan" process.

Image

--- Here in the screenshot below, you will see another step in the "System Scan" process. This time "HitmanPro" is "classifying" the files it has detected as possible threats into a particular threat category.

Image

--- Here in the screenshot below, you will see another step in the "System Scan" process. Now you will see the "Results" of the previous "System Scan".

Image

--- Here in the screenshots below, you will see another step in the "System Scan" process. Now we are starting to identify how to take Action on the Items Listed on this "Scan Results" Screen. We will provide several screenshots, one right after another one, to show this Process.

Image

Image

Image

Image

--- Now the "Options" are a little different for the "Tracking Cookies", so here a screenshot showing how to take Action on the "Tracking Cookies".

Image

--- Now, when you have established all the Actions that you want "HitmanPro" to take on all the Items listed on the "Scan Results" Screen, then you can proceed to the Final Stage: The Fix (Repair) Stage. Here's a screenshot showing what we did, and why we took the Actions we did.

Image

--- We are about ready to Proceed to the Final Stage. Please take a look at the screenshot below.

Image

--- When we mouse-clicked on the "Next Button", as shown in the screenshot above, here is what will proceed to happen Next. The "Fix (Repair) Operation" will commence. This is a very quick Operation. Please take a look at the screenshot below.

Image

--- The "Fix (Repair) Operation" has completed. Please take a look at the screenshot below, for a more detailed description.

Image

--- In the below screenshot, you will see the Final Results of the "Fix (Repair) Operation.

Image

--- Now we are almost completely done with "HitmanPro". In the following screenshot, you will see the Final Screen. It shows the total results of the "HitmanPro" System Scan.
