OkMap to interaktywne oprogramowanie pozwalające na analizę oraz planowanie tras przejazdów i wędrówek. Do tego celu należy wykorzystać posiadane dedykowane mapy lub ich skany. Istnieje również możliwość importowania map wektorowych zapisanych w pliku DEM.

Podczas organizowania tras użytkownik może dodawać punkty przystankowe i wysyłać wszystkie informacje do swojego urządzenia GPS. OkMap automatycznie szacuje wysokość terenu oraz czas jaki jest niezbędny na pokonanie szlaku.

Cały proces przeprowadzimy również w odwrotnej kolejności. W ten sposób pobierzemy dane trasy z GPS a następnie dokonamy analizy przebytej drogi. Wszystkie zgromadzone informacje można wykorzystać do stworzenia statystyk.

Ciekawą możliwością jest śledzenie pozycji w czasie rzeczywistym. Wystarczy jedynie podłączyć odbiornik GPS do laptopa. Jeżeli użytkownik jest podłączony do sieci lokalnej nic nie stoi na przeszkodzie by udostępniać dane pozostałych użytkownikom.

OkMap pozwala także na dokonywanie podglądu Google Maps oraz Google Earth, co okaże się szczególnie przydatne, gdy zechcemy pracować w trybie 3D.

Wsparciem objęte są pliki graficzne zapisane m.in. w formatach ECW, BMP, GIF, JPG, TIF. W przypadku plików z mapami, bez trudu wczytamy GFW, JGW, PGW, TFW, BPW, ECW, GeoTiff, OziExplorer, CompeGps, GPS TrackMaker, GPSTuner.
