StaxRip to darmowy program do konwersji filmów DVD i Bluray do formatów powszechnie używanych na komputerach osobistych, urządzeniach mobilnych oraz konsolach do gier. Aplikacja umożliwia zapis filmu w pliku MPEG-4 skompresowanego kodekem XvID, DivX, H264, H265 oraz VP9. Możliwa jest także konwersja pomiędzy różnymi formatami. Kompresowany materiał wideo może być poddany różnego rodzaju filtrom oraz operacjom. Program oferuje wsparcie dla sprzętowej obsługi kompresji dostępnej w kartach graficznych oraz GPU wbudowanych w nowsze procesory. Dzięki obsłudze AviSynth oraz VapourSynth możliwe jest przeprowadzenie wielu operacji na obrazie, a całość konfigurujemy za pomocą skryptów. Wszystko to czyni ze StaxRip bardzo uniwersalny oraz skuteczny zestaw narzędzi do konwersji materiałów multimedialnych.
