Falkon to przeglądarka internetowa KDE wykorzystująca silnik renderujący QtWebEngine, wcześniej znana jako

. Ma być lekką przeglądarką dostępną na wszystkie główne platformy. Ten projekt został pierwotnie uruchomiony tylko w celach edukacyjnych. Ale od samego początku Falkon stał się bogatą w funkcje przeglądarką.

Falkon ma wszystkie standardowe funkcje, jakich oczekujemy od przeglądarki internetowej. Obejmują historię, zakładki czy czytnik kanałów RSS. Oferuje bardzo uproszczony układ i obsługę wszystkich typowych operacji przeglądania. Ponadto domyślnie wyłącza reklamy blokując je za pomocą wbudowanej wtyczki AdBlock. Przeglądarka jest oparta na Javie, co pozwala na wykorzystanie jej praktycznie na dowolnej platformie.

Pierwsza wersja została wydana w grudniu 2010 r. i została napisana w Pythonie z powiązaniami PyQt4. Po kilku wersjach QupZilla została całkowicie przepisana w C++ za pomocą Qt Framework. Pierwsze publiczne wydanie to 1.0.0-b4. Do wersji 2.0 QupZilla używała QtWebKit. QtWebKit jest teraz przestarzałe, a nowe wersje używają QtWebEngine.

Od wersji 3.0 program QupZilla nie jest już rozwijany, a nowa wersja jest wydana wraz z nazwą Falkon, jako projekt KDE.

Oprócz niektórych zmian pod maską, takich jak zmiana systemu kompilacji z qmake na CMake lub używanie ścieżek XDG, nie ma zbyt wielu różnic między Falcon, a QupZilla. Pojawiło się nowe rozszerzenie – Vertical Tabs, ale będzie ono również dostępne w ostatnim wydaniu przeglądarki QupZilla.

Możliwe jest pisanie rozszerzeń dla Falkon w Pythonie, ale ponieważ powiązania są generowane przy użyciu PySide2, który nie został jeszcze wydany, a zatem nie jest spakowany przez dystrybucje, nie będzie on obecnie dostępny dla użytkowników.
