Fix: Installing or updating a portable app no longer fails when the app's folder also holds an extra copy of its files.Apps whose uninstall command uses a path variable such as %windir%, like the Application Compatibility Fix Database, can be uninstalled again.An app icon that cannot be loaded no longer interrupts the app list.
  • Fix: Installing or updating a portable app could fail when the app's folder already held a complete copy of the app and another complete copy in a subfolder, such as a backup or an old version folder. QuickInstaller now updates the app's own folder and leaves the extra copies untouched.Uninstalling an app such as the Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Fix Database from Installed Apps failed and the app stayed installed, because its uninstall command begins with a path variable such as %windir%. QuickInstaller now resolves path variables in an uninstall command and runs the uninstaller when the resulting program sits where only administrators can change it; a variable that cannot be resolved is still refused.On a computer where Windows could not provide the internet cache folder, loading an app icon from the catalog could stop QuickInstaller with a critical error while the app list was updated or browsed. QuickInstaller now shows no icon for that app and carries on, and records a warning in the log.

Fix: A download whose connection drops partway through now retries and continues instead of failing.Downloads through the QuickInstaller server continue after a short server restart, also one that is under way when the download starts, instead of failing.Updating installed and portable apps, including automatic updates, no longer fails with a package changed error just after downloading.Installs and updates that need administrator rights now work when the download folder is the root of a drive.Cancelling an import in Browse while QuickInstaller looks up apps now shows Cancelled instead of an error.Downloads explain when the download folder is unavailable.Installed apps are found correctly when a standard shortcut folder is missing.If QuickInstaller can no longer draw its window, it explains the failure and closes.An update no longer fails because its downloaded installer was replaced while it waited to run.Refreshing a portable app no longer shows an error if its program file has disappeared.Cancelling an update while an installer is finishing no longer shows an error on that app.Portable apps on a network share refresh automatically again after the share returns and the list is rescanned.App lists no longer crash when text contains characters the list font cannot show, such as Chinese characters.

  • Fix: When the connection dropped partway through a download, for example when a server or a network device closed it, the download stopped with an error even though the bytes already received were kept, and you had to start it again. QuickInstaller now treats that as an interrupted connection: it waits a moment, asks for the rest of the file and carries on, and shows an error only when repeated tries fail.A download through the QuickInstaller server no longer fails when the server restarts, including a restart that is already under way when you start the download: QuickInstaller waits up to five minutes for the server to come back and continues, from where the download stopped if it had already begun.After downloading an update, QuickInstaller could refresh the app before installation finished and report that its package had changed.
