ShellExView to malutki, nie wymagający instalacji program, który rozszerza możliwości systemu operacyjnego Windows. Większość rozszerzeń powłoki systemu jest instalowanych automatycznie przez system operacyjny, ale istnieje również wiele innych aplikacji, które instalują dodatkowe rozszerzenia powłoki. Na przykład: po zainstalowaniu programu WinZip na komputerze zostanie wyświetlone specjalne menu po kliknięciu prawym przyciskiem myszy na plik zip. To menu jest tworzone poprzez dodanie rozszerzenia powłoki do systemu.

ShellExView wyświetla szczegóły rozszerzeń powłoki zainstalowanych na komputerze i pozwala łatwo wyłączyć i włączyć każde rozszerzenie.
