If your iPhone kept showing iMessages as unread after you'd read them in Franz, this update fixed that. Clicking a notification worked again, you could send your next iMessage while the last one was still on its way, and opening a new reply in Franz Mail marked it read the first time.

New​

• Added iMessage read and unread syncing with Messages and your other devices on macOS 27. Opening a chat, or reading one while you were using Franz, marked it read there too, following your read receipt settings in Messages. This needs the updated Franz iMessage shortcut.

Improved​

• Kept Send available in iMessage while messages and attachments were on their way, with everything sent in order.
• Made photos and files appear in iMessage chats as soon as you pressed Send. Photos kept their previews while loading.
• Extended Magic Bar search to your whole iMessage history, not just recent messages.

Fixed​

• Fixed desktop notifications doing nothing when clicked, including those opened later from your notification centre.
• Fixed new emails and replies staying unread after you opened them in Franz Mail. Manual unread marks survived background refreshes.
• Fixed sending iMessage photos, files and voice recordings through the shortcut on macOS 27. This needs an update to the Franz iMessage shortcut.
• Fixed iMessage setup getting stuck when Shortcuts kept both the old and updated shortcut.
• Kept iMessage drafts and files available after a failed send, with a warning when retrying might send a duplicate.
• Stopped new iMessage groups getting stuck or losing your next draft while the first message was sending.
• Stopped iMessage photos showing the wrong preview when another photo arrived from your phone.
• Replaced broken HEIC and TIFF previews with file cards while their previews loaded.
• Stopped an iMessage search result pulling you back after you'd switched to another chat.

This update stopped Franz from trusting certificates from eight eMudhra certificate authorities whose private keys had leaked. With one of those keys, someone on your network could have pretended to be any website you opened in Franz. Chats with your own Anthropic API key in Franz Assistant also worked again.

On the Mac, Franz dictation no longer stopped at the Franz window. You could hold one key and talk into any app with a text field, from Mail to Terminal, and your words landed where your cursor was. Dictation also got smarter inside Franz: it picked English or German by itself, and an AI check fixed misheard words before they were typed. If the check got something wrong, one tap put back exactly what you said. The magic bar learned to find Signal and WhatsApp Business chats by meaning, so you could find a conversation even when you didn't remember the exact wording. You could also connect a Google or Microsoft calendar without giving Franz your mail.

New​

• You could dictate in any Mac app. You turned on "Dictate in other apps" in Settings > Voice, allowed Accessibility once and held your dictation key (Right ⌥ by default). Franz pasted your words and put your clipboard back afterwards. Password fields were always skipped. It needed Franz Pro, Max, Lifetime or the trial, macOS 26 on Apple Silicon, and the download from meetfranz.com. The Mac App Store version still dictated inside Franz only.
• Dictation picked the language of each hold by itself, English or German. Pressing ⇧ during a hold switched to the other language for that hold, and the pill always showed which one would be typed.
• Before your words went in, your AI provider checked them and fixed misheard words, like English terms in a German sentence. The pill showed what changed. Tapping your dictation key within four seconds put back what you said, and that also worked outside Franz.
• The dictation pill got a new, calmer look. It grew with your text, showed up on the screen you were working on and never took focus from what you were typing.
• Settings > Voice let you record any dictation key you liked, with Right ⌥ and Right ⌘ suggested.
• The magic bar found Signal and WhatsApp Business messages by meaning once you typed three words or more. Those results were marked "Similar meaning" and came after exact matches. Franz Assistant used the same search to answer questions about your chats.
• You could connect a Google or Microsoft calendar with calendar access only, from the calendar panel or Settings > Calendar. "Calendar only" was already selected, and you could add Mail later.
• Settings > Analytics became a full report of where your time in Franz went: time per service, a heatmap of your days and how your attention split across services. Everything stayed on your Mac, and you could pause collection, clear it or export it.
• You could share your analytics as an image. You picked what to include, checked the preview and then saved or copied it.
• When a download finished, a small card with an Open Downloads button appeared at the bottom of the window. A badge on the Downloads button counted files you hadn't looked at yet. Neither one took focus away from what you were typing.
• More accounts could share a Friend Pass, Lifetime ones included. Only you could see how many friends had joined and which milestone you'd reached.
• Settings > Account and the plan picker gained a "Franz for Teams" link, so you could buy seats for your whole team on meetfranz.com.

Improved​

• ⌘⇧J opened and closed the Downloads panel in the sidebar. The separate Downloads window was gone.
• Mail and calendar accounts lived together under Settings > Mail & calendars, and adding an account came with simpler sign-in and guided server setup.
• Recurring calendar entries showed a small repeat icon instead of repeating text.
• Franz Assistant got better at finding older messages, even when you asked in a different language than the chat was written in.
• Signal conversations used the full width of the chat pane.
• Service titles without a search field used the space in the service header.
• If a Friend Pass couldn't be used on your account, Franz told you once instead of saying nothing.

Fixed​

• iMessage sends that had actually gone through, including messages with links, stopped showing "Franz can't tell if Messages took it". They also no longer held your next messages behind "Finish setup" or sent you into an endless Repair loop.
• If an iMessage really didn't arrive, Franz sent it once more by itself. It never did that in group chats, so nobody in a group got the same message twice.
• Marking a chat as read or reacting to a message no longer broke an iMessage that was being sent at the same moment.
• iMessage setup checks waited longer on a busy Mac and worked on Macs set to any language.
• Photos in a chat no longer covered the messages below them, and chats with photos opened at their newest message.
• A split view opened with Cmd+T no longer collapsed back to a single service.
• The adaptive macOS Dock icon came back after a seasonal icon had been shown, so the dark and tinted styles worked again.
