GameEx jest uważany za najbardziej wydajny, stabilny i bogaty w funkcje front-end (emulator) dla MAME, GameBase, Daphne, gier komputerowych i wszystkich emulatorów gier opartych na linii poleceń, a także jako kompletne rozwiązanie kina domowego na PC lub wtyczka dla Windows Media Center, Kodi. Został zaprojektowany tak, aby można go było używać pojedynczo z elementami sterowania arkadą i różnymi produktami zręcznościowymi, a także ma w pełni funkcjonalny ekran dotykowy i obsługę tabletu, które mogą być używane jako CarPC i interfejs dotykowy. GameEx jest dostępny jako darmowa lub ulepszona zarejestrowana wersja.

GameEx został utworzony w 2003 roku i od tego czasu jest aktywnie rozwijany. Program początkowo zaistniał jako emulator zręcznościowy tylko dla szaf arkadowych i konfiguracji HTPC. Od tego czasu rozwija się fenomenalnie i obsługuje teraz wszystkie systemy gier retro, usługi gier online (Steam, UPlay, Origin) i oferuje wiele własnych funkcji HTPC. Jest pionierem nowoczesnej emulacji.

New in GameEx 16.55 (July 21, 2020)

  • Whenever possible uses 1 to 1 pixel fonts. Not only does this improve quality once loaded and cached also improves performance. This also makes GameEx Arcade Edition and gamelauncher mode look good at low resolutions.
  • Fixes reduce cpu/sleep not working.


New in GameEx 16.51 (July 10, 2020)

  • MAME high score support is back and much improved now using hi2txt by and thanks to greatstone. Performance is vastly improved using caching and results are also now published to and available at GameEx Online. A new leaderboard will be available shortly.
  • Much improved performance for Gamebase systems.
  • Fixes audio visualizations


New in GameEx 16.45 (July 2, 2020)

  • As always, an EmuMovies subscription is highly recommended but I have created some system platform videos based on the standard MAME Multimedia and this release can download them automatically.
  • The videos were created with a custom .net app I wrote along with FFMpeg and waifu2x for upscaling.
  • Here are some samples. MAME and Turbografx.
  • This release also fixes dynamic theme videos being shown on the game info screen.

  • New media playback features to GameEx for a change. Now features m3u and m3u plus support. Simply drop an m3u file or an internet shortcut into one of your video folders, and voila IPTV support.
  • A bit old school now but the GameEx DVD player now includes madVR support.
  • madVR support is automatic and now also works on GameEx 64 bit installs.
  • Fixes a rather annoying bug where the please wait animation will always stay on for a minimum of 2 seconds. So subsequently this release is a significant performance improvement.

  • Improvements to layout, positioning and scaling of the default theme (version 3 themes). Internally these are now version 5 themes
  • Default selector bar has been AI upscaled.
  • Version 6 themes coming soon with powerful new skinning features and compatible with both Arcade Edition and regular GameEx.
