My data loss story sounds like that: one day after using a junk software (encryption software) by error one of my drive partition was deleted, making all my files gone. But thanks to a software specialized in partition recovery I brought back all my partition. Thanks God & science.
Another good one is that a nasty driver (firewall software) caused me BSOD at boot and I could not boot into Windows, so again using a PE tool/Windows Recovery Disk i managed to repair my system making it able to boot again. Thanks God & science again.
In both cases I had a backup of all my files to an external storage device, just for my tranquility. Thanks me for being cautios.
So, the main story is like that: always create backups because not all the time the info can be recovered. It is safer to have all files backed up and when needed to restore them in minutes with powerful software like Acronis made for us.

In addition always perform incremental backups in order to have a consolidated backup copy of all your currently using files.

This is a story that many have told before me. Until recently I have manually copied my collection of programs and licenses from my laptop to my external hard drive. This process is cumbersome and wanting to automate it I decided to use the backup program 'bvckup'. It is a very good and easy to use program but I did not configure my backup settings properly and when I did the backup for the first time I got a horrible surprise. Instead of adding files from the laptop to the external drive , the program added files from my computer, over writing everything that was there. They were deleted, overwritten and gone! One and a half years of collecting programs and licenses was gone in an instant. There is no 'Undo' button on the software and despite the generous help of some members of this forum I could not recover the data.

Na wstępie chciałem podziękować koledze za kolejny wspaniały konkurs . Moja historia dotyczy mojej nieuwagi . Po jakimś czasie i próbowaniu programów przyszedł czas na przywrócenie kopii z Pamięci USB. Wszystko by byłoładnie pięknie gdyby nie mały błąd . Kopię przywróciłem nie na partycję na której znajdował się system , a na partycję gdzie miałem rodzinne zdjęcia , licencje do programów . W wyniku czego utraciłem wszystkie moje dane . Niestety nie zrobiłem kopii z zdjeciami w wyniku czego straciłem je bezpowrotnie .

At the outset, I want to thank a colleague for another great contest. My story involves my inattention. After some time and trying out programs came time to restore a copy of USB. All that byłoładnie beautiful if not a little mistake. I restored not copy a partition on which there was a system, and a partition where I had family photos, licensing programs. As a result, I lost all my data. Unfortunately I made copies of photographs and as a result I lost them forever.

Moja historia utraty danych jest taka,chciałem zaktualizować sterowniki do tego celu użyłem komercyjnego programu nie powiem jakiego by nie robić mu reklamy a raczej antyreklamy.
Efekt był taki że system trzeba było stawiać system na nowo,co prawda zdjęć nie straciłem dzięki chmurze ale straty były niemałe. Od tego czasu używam Acronis True Image który parę razy uratował mnie z opresji.
Mam jego dość starą wersję.

Nie będzie dramatycznej historii o utracie danych, bo softu Acronisa używam od 3 lat, w wersji z 2014 roku. No to jak stracić dane
Chociaż jest wiele alternatywnych programów, jednak Acronis True Image chyba nadal jest liderem w tej kategorii. No to jestem ciekaw co tam nowego w wersji 2017, stąd mój udział w konkursie

Moja historia jest raczej krótka: jeszcze na studiach (czyli dosyć dawno temu) zdarzyło mi się odsyłać dysk na gwarancji 4-krotnie. Za każdym razem dane szły w pył a wtedy pendrive'y dopiero wchodziły na rynek, zaś nagrywarka do cd dopiero zaczynała się upowszechniać. Ewentualny backup mógłby zostać poczyniony na dyskietkach. Młodsi forowicze mogą sprawdzić w internecie, co to jest dyskietka

Moja historia to pierwsza instalacja linuxa w wersji angielskiej,ze względu słabej znajomości tego języka sformatowałem sobie dysk do zera,tracąc bardzo ważne dla mnie zdjęcia

Druga to dosyć powszechna,awaria dysku(zawiecha głowicy)

W 2010 roku była promocja na ATI,od tego czasu używam tej wersji robiąc kopie na dyski zew.

Fajnie byłoby wygrać nową wersje tego zacnego programu.

acronis to super programik więc dobry konkurs.
kiedyś straciłem 40 GB przez głupotę, czasy win me pewnie, miałem nortona, ten non stop informował o jakiś atakach bla bla bla. Ja te wszystkie komunikaty ignoruj i zamknij, aż wkońcu uruchamiam kompa a tam pach 40 GB danych na jednym z dysków nie ma. Oczywiście jakiś wirus, trojan pewnie się przebił - wtedy nie interesowało mnie bezpieczeństwo i backup danych też. Bolesna lekcja odrobiona i dziś 1. nie używam już tego antywira 2. wazne dane maja 3-4 backupy, mniej wazne 2, a reszta no coż.....

nie ważne ile GB się straci - niestety najbardziej boli utrata tych najważniejszych danych, z urodzin syna/córki, z miejsc, które się odwiedziło, a których już nie ma

ja pamiętam niestety 3x takie zdarzenie (niby po wypadku to każdy mądry, no ale do 3x sztuka)

1) kiedyś kiedyś zgrałem wszystkie swoje płyty cd na dysk ponazywałem ręcznie tagi mp3 (nie było programów do zbiorowego zasysania informacji o albumach) spędziłem na tym około 3 dni, po wszystkim - następnego dnia odpalam komputer........ nie ma dysku (spalił się)
2) zdjęcia zrobione w domu u dziadka - takie przed modernizacją całego domu/ podwórka - tego jak wyglądało to za moich czasów młodości - i co? znów brak kopii
3) dziewczyna / żona przed ścięciem włosów zrobiła zdjęcia wrzuciła je na mój pulpit do katalogu nowy folder (12)
nie mówiąc mi o tym - wszystkie tego typu foldery traktuje jako temp i kasuje bez sprawdzania zawartości - 10 lat minęło, a ja dalej mam wyrzuty z tego powodu (ze strony małżonki) - znów brak kopii

Dziękuję za konkurs!
Miałem komputer z dyskiem o małej pojemności. Stare czasy. Zdjęcia z wyjazdów wypełniały dużą część tego dysku. Trzeba było zrobić miejsce na dysku,bo nie było już miejsca na nic nowego. Były to dawne czasy i dyski zewnętrzne jeszcze nie istniały, a na pewno nie na naszym rynku. Nagrałem zdjęcia na płytę CD-RW. I zgadnijcie co się stało? Nie była opisana właściwie i chcąc znowu zarchiwizować następne dane, skasowałem całą zawartość płyty CD ze zdjęciami.Nie muszę dodawać, że z dysku usunąłem zdjęcia zaraz po wypaleniu płyty. Karty pamięci w aparacie były jeszcze mniejsze niż płyty CD, więc zostały tylko wspomnienia.

I had a computer with a disk of small capacity. There were times. Photos from my trips filled a large part of the computer's disk. I had to make space on the disk, because there was no space for anything new. These were the old days, and external drives did not exist yet, and certainly not in our (Polish) market. I had images recorded onto a CD-RW. Guess what happened? This CD-RW was not written properly and trying again next data archive, I deleted the entire contents of a CD with photos . Nothing to say, I removed the photos from the disk immediately after burning the disc. Memory card in the camera was even smaller than a CD, so only memories survived.

Marne szanse- bo niestety nie spełniam wymagań konkursu - ale co tam bo danych dramatycznie nie utraciłem ponieważ Acronis w wersji dla posiadaczy dysków Seagate czy Caviar od lat działa i dba o bezpieczeństwo backupu na moich maszynach ale wersja pełna Acronisa to moje marzenie ze względu na dodatkowe możliwości jakich teraz mi brakuje w wersjach w/w czyli darmowych.Na koniec dodam że testowałem dużo programów z serii backupów ale na koniec zawsze wracałem do Acronisa bo jako jedyny u mnie sprawował się zawsze bezproblemowo i uratował moje dane z niejednych kłopotów-od paru lat i na dziś- Acronis jest No.1-Pzdr!

I have never faced this type of situation till now but i will try to tell about a situation i faced.
When suddenly one fine day my system MBR was corrupted and i used windows repair disc to resolve the issue. It took sometime but the problem was solved perfectly. I have never had any type of problem again till now.

Once after completing the windows update my system restarted and after that it stuck in boot because some files got corrupted and even windows automatic repair was not able to do anything. But I had already made a backup of my drive in external hdd using Acronis TrueImage WD edition which is free for WD hdd but with limited functionality. It saves my day and I didn't need to reset it.
