If you want to run this beta as a final release then overwrite C:\Program Files\HitmanPro\HitmanPro.exe with one of the below downloads and add the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\HitmanPro\AutoUpdate REG_DWORD 0

The key should prevent the beta executable to revert to the current version.

HitmanPro against police themed Ransomware

Recently we’ve seen a rise in the number of computers infected with police themed Ransomware. The malware shows a message, supposedly from the local police, demanding that a fine must be paid in order to unlock the computer.

Various sources promote the use of a rescue-CD to get rid of the malware. But if you don’t want to perform this cumbersome task of burning the CD-image and changing your BIOS settings to boot from it, you can also run HitmanPro from a USB stick to remove the Ransomware.

We’ve made the following short video to illustrate how easy it is to remove the police themed Ransomware with HitmanPro.

The video shows the use of HitmanPro’s unique Force Breach feature (introduced in March 2010) that kills all non-essential processes, including the malware processes that try to prevent HitmanPro from starting.

HitmanPro.Alert checks browser integrity and alerts users when secure online banking
and shopping is no longer guaranteed.



Hengelo, The Netherlands, April 12, 2012 - SurfRight, a developer of tools that give
users more control over their PC security, today announced HitmanPro.Alert, a free
tool to check browser integrity. HitmanPro.Alert informs users when it is not safe
to enter sensitive information because data exchanged between their browser and
their online bank or e-commerce site is being intercepted by malware in their
browser. Sophisticated malware like banking Trojans can steal your information or
change your transaction details before they are encrypted and sent to the bank.
HitmanPro.Alert detects these Man-in-the-Browser attacks and informs users when
critical system functions are diverted to untrusted programs.



"Online banks and e-commerce sites enforce SSL to securely exchange information via
the Internet", says Mark Loman, CEO of SurfRight. "However, the weakest link is the
user and their computer. Despite the lock icon in the browser, banking Trojans are
still able to steal and manipulate information. New variants of this malware are
difficult to detect immediately, even with up-to-date antivirus software.
Cybercriminals use sophisticated techniques like custom-engineered binary
obfuscation, cloaking and other armoring techniques to evade detection . Our
signature-less HitmanPro.Alert warns the user if their browser has been
compromised."



"Typically the user has to wait until their antivirus program is updated and able to
detect and remove the financial malware. But HitmanPro.Alert offers the user to
automatically download and scan their computer with HitmanPro anti-malware to
immediately remove the security threat" adds Mark Loman.



HitmanPro.Alert will be free of charge and is available for release in the second
quarter of 2012 for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
HitmanPro.Alert runs alongside other security programs and is compatible with all
antivirus software. It works with all web browsers, including Internet Explorer,
Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
